I'll also draw a Tarot card for each scene and try to incorporate the meaning or somehow give the scene an underlying theme defined by the card.

Alrighty, I'm getting the vibes of people fleeing from something?
Let's roll for the first scene.
Location: tent ⇾ I'll go with the Aviary for the starting location.
Threat: lock ⇾ The birds' cages have been unlocked.

The episode begins at the Aviary, where the cages got opened and frightened eagle fledglings are making a ruckus. They are attacking people and their goods in the market not far from the aviary.
While most people were lucky and already fled the areaRetreat
Withdrawal, there are quite a few individuals who are still harrassed by the beasts.
Even though they are juveniles, the guards do not dare approaching them. Fledgelings or not, they are still giant eagles and they are to be reckoned with.

Upon seeing this, Kait heads to check on Zhaad and see what's going on.

Action: Kait tries to reach the Aviary in one peace
Outcome: Yes ⇾ he succeeds.

Kait sees Zhaad perked up in the corner, sitting on a beam. His feathers are all ruffled up, looking startled and uneasy. Kait approaches to calm him - Hey there old buddy. - petting him at the back of his head and then under his beak; Zhar's two favourite spots - Just what happened right here?.

As Kait hastily searches the aviary, he finds the bird trainers unconsciously lying on the floor. Thankfully they aren't seriously injured and succeeds in waking them up. The trainers do not seem to recall what happened though.

In the meantime, the young birds are still making a scene out there, so they all head out to lure them back to their cages using pieces of meat tied to ropes.

Question: Are there any telling signs of what happened here?

Looks like many cages got opened. The culprit(s?) could take their time after knocking out everyone. There is one thing that stands out though. All of the affected cages had younglings in them and they are notoriously hard to deal with at this age. ⇾ #SUS 🤔

Action: Kait takes flight with Zhar to see if they can spot something in the air.
Outcome: No ⇾ They circle a few times, but everything seems normal…as much as things can look normal after such a disturbance.

The Aviary is located at the top district, on the mesa. There is a large square with the market and a raised stage in the middle of it. This is where acrobats, artists and actors from the theater perform playsTheater masks.
Not far from the square, one can find the Shaman's Towertower, lightning and the Grand Librarybook, where Kait used to work.
On the other side of the Square, there's a tavernsleepy person that's always filled with loud patrons. Opposite of the tavern is an armorer's shopturtle that opened recently.
Finally, the Aviary's runwayplane stretches all the way till the precipice.

Action: Kait asks around the area, hoping that someone might have seen something.
Outcome: No, but…

Kait asks around the Square and eventually comes across the Armorer.

Armorer

Hmm, no, I haven't seen anything…but speaking of suspicious behaviour: last night I heard a group of people talk about strange things and they mentioned the Aviary a few times. I couldn't quite make out much, since a moment later I heard them pissing on my shop's side wall, so I ran out to chase them away.

Without taking a breath, the Armorer continues

Yes, on second thought they might indeed be connected to what happened this morning. First they mark my shop as their territory 😠 - Kait feels the anger growing in the armorer - and now they make a commotion in the market.
This is bad for my business, I can tell you that! 😡

Armorer

Looks at Kait, eyes ablaze with determination.
Perfect, I'm coming with you!

Kait

Nearly chokes upon hearing that.

I won't rest until I kick them in the ass for all of this mess! 😠

The armorer seems to be a retired adventurerwalking cane, let's make her a she! I presume she is not from this areaplane, but settled here for some reason. She loves a good gambledice.

Squint is an Orc, her kind is somewhat rare in these border regions. The Orc War did not reach these lands, so thankfully the locals hold less grudge and prejudice towards her kin. She wears a necklace of beadsabacus made of red clay from the canyon river bank. It is a traditional necklace of the Slithering Canyons, she wears it as a sign of respect towards the people living here.
